Y.S.P. ECONAZINE CREAM (Controlled Medicine)

Description

Econazine Cream is a controlled topical medication with dual action: antifungal and anti-inflammatory. It contains the following active ingredients:

• Econazole Nitrate (1%): An antifungal agent effective against fungal and bacterial infections.
• Triamcinolone Acetonide (0.1%): A synthetic corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and relieves symptoms like itching and redness.

Preservatives: Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben.

Indications

Econazine Cream is indicated for:

• Inflammatory skin conditions co-existing with infections caused by sensitive organisms, such as:
  • Fungal infections (e.g., athlete’s foot, ringworm, Candida infections).
  • Infective eczema.

Dosage and Administration

• How to Use:

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the affected area.
  2. Apply a thin layer of the cream over the affected area and surrounding skin.
  3. Wash hands after application.
  4. Use several times daily as prescribed, for a duration of 14 days.

• Notes:

  • Do not bandage, wrap, or cover the treated area unless directed by a doctor.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, or other mucous membranes.

Precautions

• Contraindications:

  • Individuals allergic to any ingredients in Econazine Cream.
  • Not to be used on skin infections caused by:
    • Tuberculosis bacteria.
    • Syphilis.
    • Viruses (e.g., vaccinia, varicella, herpes).

• Warnings:

  • Long-term or excessive use of corticosteroids may cause side effects such as skin thinning, stretch marks, or adrenal insufficiency, particularly in infants and children.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use.
  • Discontinue use and consult a doctor if irritation or hypersensitivity occurs.

Storage

• Keep in an airtight container.
• Store at temperatures below 30°C.
• Protect from light and moisture.

Side Effects

• Mild and temporary itching or hypersensitivity at the application site.
• Prolonged use of corticosteroids may cause local skin issues such as atrophy or varicose veins.
