General Preparation Guidelines for All Ultrasounds

1. Confirm Appointment: Ensure you have your ultrasound appointment confirmed.
2. Follow Specific Instructions: Follow any specific instructions given by your healthcare provider.
3. Wear Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
4. Bring Necessary Documents: Bring your identification and any relevant medical documents or previous test results

1. Breast Ultrasound

1. Preparation:
   • No specific preparation needed.
   • Avoid applying lotions, powders, or deodorants on the breast area before the exam

2. Thyroid Ultrasound

1. Preparation:
   • No specific preparation needed.

3. Upper Abdomen Ultrasound

1. Preparation:
   • Fast for 8-12 hours before the exam (no food or drink except plain water)

4. Pelvic Ultrasound

1. Preparation:
   • Drink plenty of water and do not empty your bladder before the exam.

5. Antenatal Scan

1. Preparation:
   • Drink water before the exam to ensure a full bladder

6. Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan

1. Preparation:
   • Usually performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy.

7. Detail Scan (20W to 28W)

1. Preparation:
   • No specific preparation needed, but you might be asked to drink some water before the scan.

Post-Procedure Guidelines for All Ultrasounds

1. Review Images: The technician will review the images with you, but a detailed interpretation will come from your doctor.
2. Follow-Up: Schedule any follow-up appointments as advised by your healthcare provider.
3. Discuss Results: Discuss the results with your doctor to understand any next steps or additional tests that might be required.

When Visiting the Clinic:

1. Ensure that you bring your identification card (IC) to facilitate the staff in identifying your appointment.
2. The registration process will be conducted, and the staff will call you when it's your turn.
   
3. When you are called, please enter the doctor's room for the ultrasound scan.
4. After completing the scan , you can leave. Your scan results will first be provided to the doctor for analysis. This process will take a few days.
5. Payment shall be made at the clinic according to the ultrasound scan.

After the Examination Results are Ready:

1. You will be called to meet with the doctor again for a consultation regarding your health status.
   
   

Reminder:

Follow Fasting Instructions:
If your ultrasound requires fasting, do not eat or drink anything except water for 8-12 hours before your appointment.

Drink Water for a Full Bladder:
For certain ultrasounds, such as pelvic scans, drink plenty of water and avoid emptying your bladder before the exam.

Arrive Early:
Arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork and to ensure a smooth check-in process.
