The health Screening Examination is conducted by a Certified Doctor
A blood test is a medical examination of a blood sample, often used to evaluate various physiological and biochemical states, such as disease, mineral content, drug effectiveness, and organ function. According to the guidelines from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia), blood tests can be used for the following purposes:
- Diagnostic Purposes: To identify diseases and conditions, such as infections, anemia, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers.
- Monitoring: To monitor the progression of a disease or the effectiveness of a treatment. For instance, checking HbA1c levels in diabetic patients.
- Screening: To detect potential health issues early in asymptomatic individuals, such as screening for high cholesterol or hepatitis.
- Evaluating Organ Function: To assess the functioning of organs such as the liver, kidneys, and thyroid. Tests may include liver function tests (LFTs), renal function tests (RFTs), and thyroid function tests (TFTs).
- Blood Count: Complete blood count (CBC) to evaluate overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection, and leukemia.
- Nutritional Status: To determine levels of vitamins and minerals, like vitamin D, iron, and calcium, indicating nutritional status.
- Clotting Factors: Coagulation profiles to assess the blood's ability to clot, which is crucial before surgeries or to diagnose bleeding disorders.
- Genetic Testing: To identify genetic disorders and inherited conditions through specific markers and mutations in the DNA.
These tests involve the collection of blood samples, typically from a vein in the arm, which are then analyzed in a laboratory using various techniques to obtain the necessary medical information.
